Lamanna Elected ACI Fellow

Dr. Anthony Lamanna, Associate Professor of Construction Management, has been elected Fellow of the American Concrete Institute. The ACI Fellowship is an international award bestowed upon members who have made significant contributions to the industry. Formal announcement of his election will be made at the ACI Spring 2017 Concrete Convention and Exposition in Detroit in March.

According to Lamanna, the award "provided a fantastic surprise for the end of the Fall 2016 semester." He came to EKU in 2013, and has led the Construction Management program through a successful transition to a student learning outcomes based curriculum and reaccreditation. He received the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Young Member Award for Professional Achievement in 2011 and an ACI Scholarship for Graduate Study in 1998.

He is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He was awarded the ASCE Kentucky Branch 2016 Distinguished Engineer in Education.

According to the American Concrete Institute, a Fellow must have been a member of the Institute or a representative of an organization/sustaining member of the Institute, for at least ten years including three of the last five years. A Fellow will have made “outstanding contributions” to the production or use of concrete materials, products, and structures in the areas of education, research, development, design, construction, or management, as well as having made significant contributions to ACI through committees and/or local chapters.
