EKU Construction Management Hosts Inaugural Project Warrior Challenge
EKU's Construction Management program, sponsored by the Association of General Contractors (AGC) of Kentucky, is hosting the inaugural Project Warrior Challenge on May 5, 2017.
Born out of an AGC brainstorming session, the Inter-Collegiate Construction Management Competition was created to test students' skills and build relationships with other CM programs across the region. The challenge will test students' physical and mental capabilities in a team environment.
According to Dr. Scott Arias, the Student Contractor Association (SCA) selected the EKU Challenge Course as a natural location for the physical challenges and settled on the title 'Project Warrior Challenge' (not to be confused with the Army program).
In this inaugural year, two schools will be competing for bragging rights - EKU and Morehead. Ten four-person teams, comprised of both male and female students, will compete for prizes. According to Arias, "Each team will navigate 10 obstacles and 10 knowledge based exercises. Each obstacle will be based on a point system and every student will earn points for their group based on their performance."
Arias said that the group will be offering First Place, Second Place, and Last Place. T-shirts will be provided and each team will be given bandanas identifying them as a team. He continued, "The team with the most points will win the competition and more importantly the coveted trophy."
