AET selects Matt Gumm as 2012 distinguished alum

EKU's Department of Applied Engineering and Technology, along with the School of Applied Arts and Technology, is pleased to announce that Mr. William "Matt" Gumm has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2012.

Mr. Gumm was honored during a presentation on Friday, March 30, 2012, at the annual College of Business and Technology College to Careers senior recognition luncheon.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Mr. Gumm graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management with a minor in business. 

He has been around the construction industry his entire life, beginning his career working on a job site for Alliance Corporation. He quickly rose through the ranks to project coordinator, manager, and eventually vice president of estimating.  Today Mr. Gumm is Executive Vice President of Alliance Corporation in Glasgow, Kentucky.

Actively supporting sustainability, Alliance Corporation is committed to Green Building practices.  Mr. Gumm proudly displays the LEED AP designation – having achieved the status of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional.

He also believes in giving back to his alma mater and serves Chair of the EKU Construction Management Advisory Board.  He is on the Hosparus Board of Directors for the Barren River Area Development District and is newly elected to the American General Contractors of Kentucky Board of Directors.
