Hubbard named Outstanding Intern
Jonathan P. Hubbard, a senior Construction Management major from Nicholasville, was named the Outstanding Intern Student for 2010-11 by the EKU Cooperative Education Office at an awards ceremony held on April 21st. He was nominated by his employer, Codell Construction of Winchester.
On hand for the presentation from Codell were David Codell, Board Chair, Jeff Van Hook, Controller, and Pete Hubbard, his father and long-time superintendent for the company.
Jonathan worked full-time last summer for Codell. In addition, he has worked 20 hours per week during the past three semesters while carrying a full course load and commuting 30 miles daily. His academic record includes achieving the Dean's List on two occasions, receiving 100 percent of KEES scholarship funds during his career, and maintaining a 3.2 overall GPA.
Hubbard was among 30 students nominated by their employers for the honor. All nominated students submitted a brief essay about the co-op/internship experience, and an Awards Committee comprised of EKU faculty, staff and retired faculty outside the Co-op Office selected the award recipients prior to the University's spring awards ceremony.
